Xray History
On November 8, 1895, fifty-year old Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen was working late in his lab investigating the properties of cathode rays. While testing, he forgot to put a screen directly in front of the tube and a greenish yellow glow appeared on a cardboard screen which was lying on a chair several feet away. Roentgen threw himself into investigating these rays systematically and two months after his discovery, be published his paper.
He discovered its medical use when he saw a picture of his wife's hand on a photographic plate formed due to X-rays. The introduction of the “X” rays in 1896 would not only profoundly impact medicine but would forever change the economic, social, and cultural aspects of society.
